Big delay on any posting going on here for some time! As you all are most likely aware by now; 2 months ago I accepted the role of Lead Developer at a new start up company. Anyone who has joined a start up venture at such an early stage will corroborate this, it is blummin’ hard work! My job description ranges from sys admin, programmer, front end developer, customer services, stock taker and anything else that needs doing! One of my biggest achievements and tasks was getting a production ready environment set up and migrate a live site in 5 days. Good news is, I did it! I was recently informed that “when someone talks about specialities, I worry. People should be open to all technologies”. Something along those lines anyway! I was a bit taken a back by this as the reason for it being brought up was a previous rant on my blog about PHP Developers/Programmers having to be experts in frontend web development also. But, I’m not so sure that this should be exempt from personal interpretation and opinion… Should you specialise? When should you specialise? What does it mean to specialise? I don’t know about you, but I am often mulling over a new idea. I am constantly trying to find ways to make my own life easier and combining them with interests I already have.
The question is, how can you tell a good idea from a bad idea? Is there such a thing as a bad idea? How do we realise our good ideas into existance?
